Jean-Jacques Rousseau lived at Mont-Louis de Montmorency from 1757 to 1762, where he composed his greatest works: La Nouvelle Héloïse, Du Contrat social, Emile or De l’Education. La Maison des Commères
(the house of gossipers), a library specialized in
the eighteenth century and local history, is also open to
public (by appointment only).
